Kingussie & Insh, Inverness-shire. In around , the parish of Kingussie and Insh erected a poorhouse or almshouse which was administered by the Parochial Board rather than operating as a statutory poorhouse under the central Board of Supervision. The building was located a mile or so to the east of Kingussie. In the mid 19th century some of the congregation left their parish church in Kincraig, to hold their own services in the open air in Insh village. About this church A reader called Donald Cattanach walked every Sunday from Glen Banchor in Newtonmore to lead their worship in the village.

Badenoch (from the Scottish Gaelic Bàideanach meaning drowned land) is a traditional district which today forms part of Badenoch and Strathspey, an area of Highland Council, in Scotland, bounded on the north by the Monadhliath Mountains, on the east by the Cairngorms and Braemar, on the south by Atholl and the Grampians, and on the west by capital of Badenoch is Kingussie.
